Registration now open for 2024 Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon and training camps

The 2024 Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon is set to begin the first week in May, its former slot, and is now offering training camps to help participants get ready for their races.

The marathon, along with a half marathon, 10K, 5K run, 5K walk, and free PNC Kids' 1K, will take place from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Registration for all races is now available at zeiglerkalamazoomarathon.com. Organizers said that race prices will increase on Jan. 1, 2024.

Registration for programs offered by long-time marathon partner Run Kalamazoo Distance Camp is also now available at runkalamazoo.org. Officials said both of these camps will include certified coaches and a team of medical professionals to help new and experienced runners meet their goals in a "welcoming, inclusive, informational and nurturing space."

The first program offered is a 20-week camp designed for those who are participating in the marathon, half marathon, and 10K. It will begin Saturday, Dec. 9.

The second program offered is a 13-week camp designed for those who are participating in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K. It will begin Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

Earlier this year, News Channel 3's Jessica Harthorn documented her experience training for the 2023 Zeigler Half Marathon, updating viewers with an online blog.

“I am thrilled and excited to take on this new role as the director of operations with the Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon," newly appointed Director of Operations Alaina Schuld said in a statement. "This event is so well known and anticipated by so many, and I'm happy to be a part of it. I love how the community comes together to promote health and movement for all ages and abilities!”

All races will start at the Arcadia Creek Festival Site and go through downtown Kalamazoo. The marathon, half marathon, and 10K will pass through Waldo Stadium at Western Michigan University.
